Farro and Barley Spicy Spaghetti Sauce

Vegan Spaghetti Sauce: this sauce is filled with flavour and spicy AF (JK)




  • 1 can of tomato sauce
  • 3 tomatoes diced, fresh (roma variety)
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 cayenne pepper, finely chopped **
  • 1 onion, medium sized chopped
  • 1/8 cup fresh herbs (parsley, basil, thyme) **
  • 1 1/2 cup of cooked farro
  • 1/2 cup of cooked barley
  • Salt and Pepper


  1. Prep all your mise-en-place
  2.  In sauce pan, over medium heat, add chopped cayenne pepper and garlic until caramelized
  3. Add onions and tomatoes
  4. Season the mixture with salt and pepper (to taste)
  5. Sauté until soft and add the cooked farro and barely
  6. Make sure the grains are coated in the oil
  7. Add tomato sauce to the saucepan and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes
  8. Add fresh herbs
  9. Plate over gluten free pasta or veggie pasta
