Name: Max Denley

Age: 24

Hometown: Brampton, ON

Where do you work?

I am the Director of Facilitation for The Get REAL Movement.

Get REAL is a youth-focused non-profit organization that energizes LGBTQ+ students and their allies to voice their stories. We accomplish this by offering inclusivity workshops and by providing leadership development through our chapter program across North America. Our programming aims to break down prejudice, promote unity, and foster compassion in our world.

What do you love about your job/workplace?

I get to spend every day making a difference in the lives of youth, alongside some of my best friends. My job allows so many amazing opportunities for growth and development, including traveling all over Canada, developing new programs, and connecting with so many interesting people. Get REAL has really allowed me to bring ideas to life, and create positive change. I really feel like my work with Get REAL is making a difference.

Why did you pick Toronto has your new home?

Toronto is such a vibrant city. There is always something happening only steps from my front door. I’ve been able to reconnect with old friends, and meet new ones, through groups and activities for just about any interest. Despite being such a big city, Toronto has a feeling of community that I really like.

How does Toronto influence your brand/ what you do?

Being in such a diverse city is incredible for Get REAL. Our whole program is based around connecting to other human beings through our shared emotions and learning from our unique experiences, and I think Toronto is a great place for that. There is so much love and kindness in this city that really fuels an organization like us.
